women as board members in switzerland

Women as Board Members in Switzerland still...

In the European Comunity there is a clear strategy how to reach a better ratio of women as Board Members in major companies. Until 2020 they should reach a percentage of 40 %.

Women as Board Members in Switzerland is still a minor priority according to the Schilling report. The ratio of women as Board Members rose from 10 % to 12 % in the years 2010 to 2013. Also the Swiss Employer Union (SAV) report that the ratio is between 7.6 and 16.2 according to the selected sectors. In Industry there are the least and in convenience goods the most. 3/4 of the SMI companies like to increase the numbers of women Board Members. The majority of the companies don't have clear goals how and when to reach a better ratio.

It can be expected that first in the public sector there will be an increase of woman Board Members, then in the SMI companies. If this trend can also be reflected in midsize companies is open as there is no relevant inquiry yet.

There will certainly be a big lack of available woman with excellent leadership experience less a lack of education as women tend to be very well educated more and more.
