Business Development Director Healthcare Unit at an independent international experience design consultancy, helping companies and organisations to design and innovate their products and services through qualitative understanding of people, their activity models and behaviours. The firm was founded in 2005, and has offices in Lausanne, Turin and Singapore. The Healthcare and Wellbeing Practice is a new specialised unit situated in Lausanne.

The Role

The successful candidate should demonstrate experience in the healthcare industry, with a documented understanding of current challenges that the Pharma and Medtech industries are facing, in particular in relation to the necessity of addressing innovation demand from the customer experience perspective.

 More specifically, key tasks & responsibilities include:

-       Partner with customers to understand their business needs and objectives, and create a collaborative journey with interested prospects.
-       Generate new business leads, and play an integral role in new business pitches and lead the on boarding of new clients.
-       Lead the negotiations to close the created business opportunities to ensure commerciality.
-       Focus on growing and developing existing clients, and contribute in the finalization of deliverables to the clients.
-       Act as the key interface between the clients and multi-disciplinary expert teams.
-       Work with the members of the board on budgeting and planning, and set revenue targets for the Healthcare Unit with key performance indicators.
-       Implement sales strategies for the Healthcare Unit and monitor effectiveness.
-       Responsible for the development and achievement of sales targets within assigned territory and client accounts by implementing a variety of new business initiatives to drive sales.
-       Keeping a close eye on the sales activities of competitors and utilising ideas where appropriate.
-       Reporting to the Board on forces that shift tactical budgets and strategic direction of accounts.
-       Speaking at conferences and events about the company’s services.

Candidate Profile

-       MBA, or a graduate degree in life sciences with good knowledge of behavioural sciences and design is preferred.

-       Prolific networker with experience and existing business development connections within the pharmaceutical industry.

-       Proven track record of strong business development with the ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.

-       Demonstrable experience developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions.

-       Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level.

-       Strong account management and relationship building skills.

-       Natural leadership style, with ability to lead a team without direct line of reporting.

-       High social competence, transparent non- hierarchical working style.

-       Self-driven organized personality who requires minimal guidance.

-       Clear business acumen and creative problem-solving aptitude that can deliver on financial targets.

-       Motivating personality with a strong ability to influence others to achieve results.

-       Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills, and strong writing skills of effective company’s offerings to prospects and clients.

-       Good cross-cultural communication skills.

-       Fluency in English a must, German or French a plus.
